Beefing up safety
On the heels of Iowa Association of Realtors partnering with personal safety app Moby to beef up their safety program in light of recent attacks on Realtors, most notably the unsolved murder of 27 year old Realtor, Ashley Okland.
We are the first to report the next association to partner with Moby and that is Michigan’s 7,000 member strong and broker-owned MLS, MiRealSource to promote personal safety to its members, not only in response to the same attacks Iowa is responding to, but as a continuing part of their safety program for members.
David DeRees, CEO of MiRealSource said, “Traditional classroom training is certainly effective, but the time required may not always work for our members. Moby is a tool we can put in their hands right away to ensure they are thinking proactively about their safety and security.”
“Although there is no perfect solution to the safety problem for real estate agents, there are small steps we all can take when working in unfamiliar environments,” says Conal Campbell, Director of Alliances for Moby. “Having the power to let your key contacts know where you are, even when you are unable to get to your phone, not only creates a powerful network of guardians, but also eases the worries of those that care about you.”
Realtors, you have relied on your gut instincts for years, and now you can take action when your internal alarm bells are ringing and your not reporting back in to your designated spot and alerting your contacts can be life saving, especially for people with health issues.

AG supporter Moby is a free app that alerts your chosen contacts via email and text when you tell the app you need assistance, has a one push emergency alert button, check in and tracking features with interactive maps seen only by your contacts. There are a lot of safety apps on the market, but most are simply an alarm button while the Moby app is actually connected to a national security monitoring center with integration of emergency services.
