We’ve shown you the smartphone comparison charts and the cell phone plan comparison chart and many are making their next smartphone choice. But what about speed?
Realtors rely greatly on tools in the field like smartphones and more and more business is being conducted on these phones, even signing contracts via esignatures, but if a network is slow, is it even worth having the fancy smartphone offered by that carrier?
PC World compared the 4G speeds of the major carriers and found that several carriers didn’t quite live up to their promises.
According to Lifehacker’s Whitson Gordon, they tested the connections in 260 different locations across 13 different US cities, “so they were pretty exhaustive, giving us confidence in the results,” however, Gordon noted that PC World’s methodologies were “quite flawed and a bit misleading” as the tests in areas without 4G simply tested 3G speeds.
Regardless, some carriers claim high speed but that 4G isn’t quite available in many of the areas and when it is, it isn’t always as fast as it should be. So, when you’re making that smartphone decision, take into account the device, the plans available and network speed because you can have a $500 phone but if you can’t effectively pull up a website, it’s useless.
