HotPads MyPoints
When you search HotPads.com now, you’ll see a sneaky little green arrow on the left and if you miss it, you won’t see what your consumers will- the ability to put custom map markers on the search map (we did the above search without even creating an account).
Consumers are more interested in convenience in this era of high gas costs combined with heightened social awareness to environmental issues, and it only makes sense for consumers to be able to visually pinpoint their own important points of interest. For roughly five years, users have been able to see “Points of Interest” like schools and transportation, but “MyPoints” makes that process easy and customizable.
We like that the customized points can be saved and even shared with others (like a spouse, parent or roommate). The program actually calculates in detail the distances between your points and can give directions which is tremendously helpful to relocating homeowners.
In April 2010, we introduced you to SpatialMatch which brings search hyperlocal much like MyPoints on HotPads and a marriage between the two would be really amazing, but the point is that they both aim to appeal to the hyperlocal home shopper and understand the international real estate credo- location, location, location.
Head over to HotPads, play with MyPoints via the green arrow on the left of their search screen, and tell us below what you think.
