Microsoft Teams launches Communities perfect for groups

Perfect for working teams and groups, Microsoft Teams launches Communities, a new feature that facilitates meetings and conversation.

Tech companies are constantly pushing out new products and features attempting to keep up with the massive shift to remote work or for those who are self-employed. The need for quick, effective communication is something every working employee or entrepreneur must address. Microsoft is the latest tech giant to tackle customer or client communication by adding Communities to Microsoft Teams, its messaging and video conferencing app.

Communities will allow a team of people to join together in a common spot to chat, share, and collaborate. Communities is a free feature, open to all who use Microsoft Teams.

To get started, users will create a community and add identifying information, like a group photo or graphic. Then, they can invite group members by phone, email, link sharing, or with a QR code. Community owners may also adjust Community settings to fit their group’s needs by adding guidelines and moderating content. Owners may also approve new members or remove existing ones as needed, ensuring that the Community runs smoothly.

Members will be able to:

Share messages with everyone in the group. There’s no need to copy and paste the same message to each team member or fill up inboxes with back-and-forth.

Create events and add them to your Community calendar. Everyone can have access to the same information, all at once. This helps in preparation leading up to the event as well as follow-up conversations afterward.

Share and store documents that pertain to your group. No one wants to search through a ton of emails to find that one form they need. Instead, house it in Communities for easy access!

Filter content and access photos, videos, events, and links. Again, no more digging through your digital space to find what you need. It’s all right there, in Communities.

We’re excited to see how Microsoft Teams Communities is adopted as it rolls out to users. Will you be testing out the new feature? If so, we’d love to hear what you plan to do within the platform!
