Altrüus launches with hopes of going national
Altrüus, (pronounced All-True-Us), wants you to benefit from your shopping experiences. They are launching an app to reward customers for sharing their shopping and dining experiences. When you use the app you will get discounts and promotions, just for doing what you all ready do. What is the catch you ask? There isn’t one. All you have to do to get the discount is grant the company authorization to send out a one time message from your Twitter or Facebook account, done through Altrüus.
As a consumer, when you sign up with Altrüus, you will be given a unique membership number. When you walk in to a store that is registered with Altrüus, you will sign in to the app, swipe permission on, and show your phone to the clerk, who will then enter your membership number and you will receive the discount. It really is that simple. If that is not enough reason to use Altrüus, you can also choose the non profit Altrüus donates to from a list of registered charities. So your shopping or dining experience can benefit you, the business, and a nonprofit; talk about making an impact.
Consumers, businesses, charities win
From a business standpoint, right now Altrüus is rolling out in the Austin, Texas marketplace, where it is based, with plans to go national soon. This can mean hyper targeted word-of-mouth communication for your business. Not only will you be attracting loyal customer, but new customers who are likely to become loyal as well. When someone receives a discount and a tweet or status update is posted, their friends see it. When their friends see the discount, they are going to want it too: generating more tweets and updates, spreading your business name and excitement about your product or service. You can also receive constructive criticism from unsatisfied customers in their own words.
You have access to the Altrüus dashboard where you can create a promotion, manage your account, monitor account activity, or offer a discount. When you look at your account activity you can see what you cost per impact is; and once the word starts to spread about your business, you will be surprised how far it goes.
Brand Manager for Altrüus, Sean Meyer states, “from the beginning [of launch], 15% of all our profit will be donated to Breakthrough Austin, with the goal of creating as much altruism through smiles as possible. Our soft launch in Austin will exist for the duration of three months; afterwards we [will] execute our national campaign.”
If you are ready to sign up either as a consumer or as a business, you can do so on the website. If you are signing up as a business, there is an instructional video on how Altrüus benefits you, as well as a tutorial of the features. I am interested to see how Altrüus takes off once it goes national, because social media is a part of our daily lives, and it would be nice to get something out of using it, while giving something back to a charity.
