Adding social networking buttons
There are several ways to add social networking buttons to your website and chances are, you could already have them. A new way has hit the market in the form of the free toolbar by TurnSocial.
What is interesting about the toolbar besides how easy it is to set up is that it nests at the bottom of a website and allows users to view yelp ratings, your facebook page, local information, walkability and the like without leaving the website, it is simply a pop up. We like the concept of people being able to click around while never leaving your website.
Currently, TurnSocial is free and says they may offer premium features in the future, we suspect stats reporting or custom art (a button for your IDX search so that pops up, etc.).
The buttons currently offered are:
- Twitter User Feed
- Twitter Search
- Rentwiki
- Walkscore
- Outside.in
- AddThis
- Yelp Nearby Search
- Yelp Reviews
- Myspace
- Youtube
- Flickr
- Foursquare
- ApartmentRatings.com
Where TurnSocial is being used
The toolbar hasn’t caught on yet in residential real estate sales quite the way it has in the multifamily sector but we assume that could change.
Some examples of the toolbar live include Ladera Vista Apartments, the Block on Campus, and The Helena.
TurnSocial founder Matt Hendrick tells us that the free toolbar is installed on over 1,000 multifamily sites and they are used by churches, car dealerships and more. They’re seeing a rise in use in traditional websites and blogs of all types and there is a simple WordPress plugin for blogs.
