Congratulations on a well deserved win
In the past year, we’ve shown you how to weed through junky real estate photographers to find high quality professionals via the Photography for Real Estate global photographer directory and monthly, we share with you their “Best of the Best” contest which names the best photograph in the PFRE Flickr pool each month via vote of real estate photographer peers.
We share these winners not only to introduce you to real estate photographers in your area that you should know, but to insist that the first impression all buyers get is now the lead MLS photo, so we endorse high quality photography for the industry as a means of raising the bar. Many agents take their own photos and they’re not all bad, but we want to see higher quality images like the one above which is ultimately why we share the “Best of the Best” with you, so you have an idea of what you’re looking for when you hire a photographer (plus, we encourage you to reach out to the winner if they are in your city).
This month’s winner is Linda Sabiston of First Impression Photography in Sunshine Coast, BC. This month’s theme was “large interior adjoined multiple spaces,” and PFRE founder Larry Lohrman said, “the point of this theme is that large adjoined multiple spaces are typically more difficult to light than smaller single rooms. Analyzing and voting for the best image in this set is a good exercise in thinking about what makes an interior photo look good.”
Of the winning image, Sabiston said, “This image was made on the first shoot I had after taken Scott Hargis’ lighting workshop in Vancouver BC a few months ago. As soon as I set foot in that home I knew I couldn’t get away with the comfort of my trusty single flash and Fong! So I forged my way … far beyond … my comfort zone and used all three of my flashes for this shot. One on camera pointed behind and to the right, one camera left and one in the far sitting room. I still did some post, but not nearly as much as I would have done without the additional light. So Scott, thank you. Without the knowledge, experience and patience you shared in the workshop, this image would have looked quite different and I wouldn’t be here thanking people for their votes!”
