iPad survives fall from space thanks to inexpensive case

The 100,000+ foot free fall

Extreme electronics case manufacturer, G-Form filmed an iPad encased in “Extreme Portfolio” case by a skydiver from hundreds of feet in the air, revealing an unscratched device that survived the fall. Consumers cried foul because it fell in the grass and said it was a weak test. In response, G-Form upped the ante and sent an iPad into space. Literally.

The $45 “Extreme Edge” case was placed on a working iPad, sent up with a weather balloon and a variety of cameras, and when the balloon pops, the iPad is sent back to Earth, plummeting to what viewers assume will be its crushing, sad death, but no, it bounces and the manufacturers picked up the unscathed device that is still playing the same movie it was sent up into space with.

Surviving the free fall in Nevada’s rocky terrain is nothing short of impressive, especially for an open-faced device case that is so inexpensive. The company has also innovated the athletic pads industry and has boldly proven in this latest marketing effort that their devices are undeniably tough and can survive any fall, even from space.
