Growing real estate search site, Hotpads.com celebrated their fifth anniversary earlier this month. Originally launched as a rental search site, it has been expanded over the years to include homes for sale. Most people know the site for their “Buy v. Rent” search portal where consumers can search rentals and sale homes based on estimated monthly cost with their goal being to have better informed consumers.
Also well known for their heat mapping (one of which we recently featured) and being centered around map based search, HotPads.com is a lean company, surviving nicely on their last round of funding in 2007 as opposed to some of the behemoths that continue to go back to mommy and daddy in the Valley asking for more dough.
We heard a rumor this weekend that HotPads could be rolling out new features for buyers and renters and although we don’t know what they will be calling it, we were tipped off that they could be rolling out school information in a map based search so that users can search based on specific schools. We hear the search will highlight attendance zones and use maponics scores to show individual school as well as school district information including test scores and the like.
We’ll let you know when we’re able to confirm a roll out with HotPads, but for now, we’re enjoying watching the real estate search site race heat up because honestly, it’s been pretty boring for a while.
