Don’t you hate when you’re trying to make use of all the functions of your $600 dollar phone – binge watching YouTube tutorials, Netflixing, or catching up with the news on the go, but you have no where to sit the phone to watch comfortably? It seems like a minor issue, but research shows that users experience soreness, muscle aches and fatigue from trying to hold their phone while watching content from it.
For your viewing comfort
Headpal, a new multi-functional device developed in late 2014, plans to alleviate that issue; providing users with a more comfortable viewing experience. This device comes in three different moldable modes: Head-mount mode, table mount mode, and selfie stick mode. To switch between modes, all you have to do is detach and reattach the magnetic connectors and mold the mount to your desired circumstance.
So the next time you want to binge watch YouTube tutorials comfortably, all you have to do is use head mount mode. It’ll actually mount to the headphones provided with the device, connect to your phone and hold it out in front of you so you can view without using your hands. Similarly, if you and a friend want to binge watch together, you can set it up on the table for both of you to use.
We’ve got some concerns
Headpal is definitely the epitome of a unique innovation: something that solves a problem little know they even have. However, there are some concerns about the beta-stage product. For instance, how heavy/light is it. Alone, with no attachments, the iPhone 6s Plus weighs 6 oz, and Samsung Galaxy 6 weighs 5 oz. How much additional weight will the device add to devices that are already heavy? Will it be light enough to stay on your ears, and not cause the same neck strain it’s trying to solve?
Will it also add significantly to the cost of having a cell phone? Again, some people spend upwards of $600 on a phone, and aren’t really fond of spending too much more money to enjoy.
Additionally, are the headphones of good sound quality? Often times, companies not specializing in sound and audio, fall short in delivering quality products – is that the case here?
Lastly, is it transportable? Can I take it to my office, Starbucks, or friend’s house without having to make it awkwardly fit in my briefcase, or is there an easier, more discreet way?
The problem we didn’t know we had
Regardless of the concerns, Headpal is the first device of its kind to offer all those digital viewing capabilities in one, which is pretty awesome. Furthermore, there are 78 million millennials who watch and prefer digital media: which means this device that seeks to enhance digital viewing has the potential to be a major hit among millennials.
I personally hate holding my phone while trying to watch news clips, or YouTube, and typically resort to some makeshift stand made with my coffee cup or laptop. So if you’re like me, this may be the answer to your problems.
Head to their website today to see how unique the device looks, and works, and how quickly the team turned a little known problem into a fully functioning device! Now hopefully, we can finally enjoy all that our expensive devices have to offer.
