Why Are You Here?

jump-in.jpg

It’s a simple question.

I answered it in a comment that I left on Benn’s post about what AgentGenius is or isn’t, for that matter. Here’s what I said:

AgentGenius is, both by definition and in practice, a multi-author blog AND a Constructive Content Community. Much like Vicki, I write for AG because I was invited. I accepted that invitation because it was pretty clear to me right up front that what is being done here at AG is a little bit different than what is found at the run-of-the-mill MAB. It’s good, but not perfect, and it is always improving. There is a collaboration and cooperation that is unique, and there is a good blend of the conceptual and the factual.

You can call it whatever you want, but I call it a juicy, satisfying, steak that lives up to the promise of the it’s seductive sizzle.

The answer to this question is important, but maybe not quite as important as the act of answering. Giving an answer is important because if AgentGenius is, in fact, a Constructive Content Community, then it relies upon the community. That community is made up of well, you, first and foremost. After you, there are a whole bunch of other people that are here, probably trying to learn just like you.

The problem is, you don’t know about each other– yet. If you knew about each other, and shared with each other the what?, why?, and how? of your learning experience here at AG, everyone’s experience would be enhanced. If are the type that likes to read and doesn’t comment, here’s a perfect opportunity to jump in, no strings attached.

And who knows, by answering this simple question, not only will you learn something about yourself and others, you might even meet some people you really like. . .

It’s like sitting with the kids at the cool table in school and not being picked on for having a bag lunch. This open environment is truly a breath of fresh air in a world that is quick to criticize and harsh to those who don’t agree.

I’m here to learn from those who know much and are good at putting words together. I’m here to be a small part in a much larger movement. I want to change and improve an industry that badly needs a new sense of decency and direction. I’m here to hang with the cool kids who genuinely care about what they write and are willing to share it freely with others.

Anyone want to trade my pickle and mayo sandwich for a bag of Fritos?

    Daniel,

Speaking of food. No gladiator steak here. More like a bunch of tasty BBQ ribs. .>)

I’m here because my business is to know what all you find works for you – especially as early adopters, so I can gain as much knowledge and as many resources as possible for my current and potential clients. Plus, you all are much fun for a home body to hang with!

“think, engage, enlighten, and respond” – that is what Benn describes as the CCC. So, the question is, does AG do that?

I would say yes, so AG is, by definition, a Constructive Content Community. It is certainly different than your typical MABs and I am honored to be a part of it.

@IBR Broker– That’s beautiful. Very well put. Welcome, and I hope that you continue to learn, share and grow.

    @Larry– Mmmm… ribs.

@Cheryl (@virtuallin)– Your commitment to your profession is a commitment to ours, and yours is an important perspective to have. Keep coming back, and keep engaging. Tweet you later!

@Robert– The community is equally honored to have you.

@Rudy– Stop commenting and go take care of those bouncing twins and your lovely wife!

I’m here despite the fact that IBR Broker brings a mayo and pickle sandwich every day.

I’m also here because the agents who post here always have something thought-provoking to talk about. They’re not just regurgitating the same crap across the Web, and they’re not attacking me – or my colleagues. Oh, I’m also here because Lani quotes the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song on Twitter.

Because I have something to share and much to learn.
