My best friend of almost 20 years has always had this wonderful ability of finding the good in almost everything. She finds happiness and amusement in the simplest everyday moments and has a way of making that contagious.
One of her silver-lining mantras is the “Rose & Thorn” perspective. Whenever we have dinner together or with a group, my friend always poses the question of, “What was the rose and thorn of everyone’s day?”
Easier to find bad than good
This question has the ability to generate a lot of thought. During our hectic lives it may be easy to find annoyances or thorns and a little bit more difficult to see the good in our daily routine.
Now everyone can have this friend in their lives with Taylor (and, to be clear, this I have no affiliation with this Taylor as they are much more positive than I).
Meet Taylor
Taylor is designed to help anyone and everyone practice the idea of gratitude. According to developers, “Taylor will send you a text message every evening asking for your favorite moment of the day.
Whether you received a promotion at work or simply enjoyed a delicious slice of pie, Taylor will save the moment to your private timeline.
“You can login at any time to review the timeline and relive your favorite moments. Taylor will also remind you of some of your favorite past moment, for example, your moment from OnThisDay last week. Reflection and being grateful are important, and Taylor is the easiest way to get started.”
Bring Taylor to work day
While the idea is used to focus yourself on a life of gratitude, this could also be applied to your career. At the end of each day, text your biggest work-related accomplishment.
Being that Taylor is operated through a text conversation, the thread can be used as a journal of sorts. This would be perfect during an employee review as it has a time and date tracker alongside your accomplishments (also the fact that you’re taking the time to track accomplishments show initiative in itself).
Text Taylor at the end of your day
You could also take it a step further by texting your favorite moment or accomplishment of the day, then write what your goal is for the next day. Taylor will help to keep those goals on track and help keep users motivated in their work and personal lives.
And, the beauty of Taylor is that it is all rose and no thorn.
