If you’re a Realtor, it probably seems like you live in your car, and any bit of extra navigational assistance likely makes you drop to your knees and thank the heavens (or whatever/whoever you believe in).
Well, don’t thank the heavens… thank Google.
The next time you use your Google Maps app, which will likely be on your next appointment, you’ll notice some pretty sweet updates. Boy, oh boy, did that magnifying glass icon get a needed facelift.
Google has finally released an update that will allow users to explore stops on their route without having to reroute their navigation.
[Insert cheers here.]
Need coffee? Check.
Need to stop at the title office? Check.
Need groceries? Check.
Need food? Check.
Need to get to another listing? Check.
Need reasonable gas prices? Check, check, check!
Reroute, Google maps!
Google has stepped up their game
Clearly, Google has stepped up their A-game because you can even use voice commands for the new options; single-handedly making route adjustments safer and easier while you’re behind the wheel. If a client calls you last minute and wants to view another home, you can quickly adjust your route to fit those needs without taking your eyes off the road.
Note: the search button is now where the mic used to be. However, the mic will appear after tapping the search icon. Tap twice for the microphone.
And these options are just the start
By selecting the magnifying glass icon in navigation mode, you can search the four designated options (gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores and coffee shops), or explore other businesses nearby. By selecting the “Search for more places” option, you can type in the name of the business you’re seeking and make it a part of your route.
Various shops and stops will automatically show up on your directions. Fifteen minutes before your next appointment and in need of groceries for tonight’s dinner? No problem. Each of the stops will also include how much time it will add to your original route.
After allowing your phone ten seconds to reroute, your new route will be adjusted. Finally, you don’t have to stop your navigation in order to put in a new destination. Kiss your screaming GPS goodbye.
Can I get a Hallelujah?
Introducing gas prices, hours of operation
Even more spectacular for Android users, the update also includes gas prices and hours of operation. Helpful, since we know your hours are generally not the standard nine to five.
Note: The prices aren’t included on each gas station, but the values are also a cheered update.
Remember when you pulled off at a station, paid about $2.50 a gallon, and then passed a station five miles further that was thirty cents cheaper? Those dark ages are gone, my friends. Thanks to the Google Maps update, you can expect your next gas detour to be cheaper and quicker. Helping you utilize every moment of face-to-face time with your clients.
Well, let’s just say that the update is past overdue, but Realtors everywhere are certainly welcoming it with open arms! Thanks a million, Google.
