When I used to work at a bank, I would witness a handful of disgruntled customers who had been inconvenienced in their pursuit of closing a mortgage, obtaining licensing or whatever it is, because they needed a notary.
Finding a notary isn’t hard, but the fact that you have to leave the house to find one – that’s the inconvenient part. Now you don’t have to with the Notarize app that will legally notarize documents straight from your phone.
24/7/365
Notarize is the first on-demand electronic notary service connects users with a notary 24/7, and is expedient for any paperwork process that requires one. All you have to do is upload a copy of your document (from your email, or scanned in), and request the notary.
According to Pat Kinsel, the founder of Notarize, the service is valid nationally and connects you with licensed Virginia electronic notaries with live video call.
The entire transaction should take no more than 3-4 minutes.
How information is handled
You also need to upload a copy of your driver’s license and other financial information in order to verify your identity. However, they ensure users in their privacy agreement that they don’t store or share any of your information without explicit consent.
In their Terms of Service, they offer a “Code of Conduct” which restricts the types of content that can be transmitted. They forbid nudity, copyright infringement, harassment, virus transmission, and so forth. In other words, use it for legit business or don’t use it at all.
For now the app is only available in the U.S. and costs a nice chunk of change: $25 per document to be exact. But considering the cost of gas, the time it takes (more than four minutes for sure) Notarize could be a god sent in the right situations, particularly when time is money.
